I was born and raised in Salisbury, Maryland. After graduating from James M. Bennett High school, I attended Salisbury University ( Salisbury State University at the time). I graduated with a B.A. in Communication Arts in 1990. I moved to a small apartment in Delmar in 1991. Shortly after I settled in, I had gone to Food Lion for groceries. I saw fire trucks, more cars than usual and a crowd of people standing around, but I saw nothing resembling an emergency. I asked someone what was going on. They had been at a softball tournament and were heading home. I asked if they had won. “No, they didn’t”. I knew at that moment that Delmar was where I wanted to permanently settle and raise my children. And I did.I married my husband in 1993 and we have raised three sons. The oldest both attended Delmar Elementary and graduated from Delmar Middle/Senior High. The youngest is still attending the high school.
During my time as an elected official, I was a 2015 graduate of the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance and I also proudly served as the President of the Lower Eastern Shore Mayor’s Association. Delmar has certainly been good to me and my family, and serving as a past Commissioner, and now the Mayor, has allowed me to give back to the community I love so much.
